About this project
This project combined the sensitive renovation of a 200-year-old cottage with the construction of a striking contemporary extension. The existing cottage was stripped back to its shell, including a full replacement of the first-floor structure, and upgraded throughout with new electrics, plumbing, insulation, plastering, and high-spec internal finishes.
Designed to meet modern efficiency standards, the property was fully prepared for an air source heat pump installation. The works also included complete fit-outs of the kitchen, bathrooms, WC, and utility room, alongside bespoke joinery and a custom staircase featuring steel rod detailing.
The new extension features an extensive steel frame structure, carefully tied into the existing building, supporting large areas of glazing with sliding and fixed panels. Precision was critical where the modern structure met the original flint cottage, with bespoke detailing ensuring a seamless finish.
Externally, the project included copper roof detailing, flush internal-to-external tiling over a 90m² patio, and extensive landscaping works including a pond, water feature, stepping stones, sleeper retaining walls with lighting, steps, and pathways.
A complex and highly detailed build, every part of the property was transformed, delivering a unique blend of heritage and contemporary design.
